How They Thrive highlights how NYC alternative high schools support students traditionally underserved by the system, using student outcomes and alumni voices to inform policy and practice. Designed within Eskolta’s established brand system, the report needed to function across both print and digital formats and communicate effectively to policymakers and educators. I developed a cohesive visual language—including typographic hierarchy, spacious layouts, and data visualizations—that balances narrative storytelling with clear presentation of findings. I digitally colored hand-drawn illustrations by an alum artist using vivid watercolors to introduce warmth and approachability, helping counter deficit-based narratives about transfer schools. The resulting design system scales across the full report and supporting social media assets, ensuring consistency and clarity across channels.
